4.1. Backward Compatibility

To import MINEDW or FEFLOW data sets:

  1. Select File → Import from the Main Menu banner

  2. The Import File dialog box opens

Supported File Formats

MINEDW supports importing the following file formats:

  1. MINEDW Project File (.PRJ) - Imports complete project including all models and settings. Different from .PRJ files using the Itasca framework.

  2. MINEDW Geometry File (.PST) - Imports geometry and zone information only

  3. MINEDW Data-set File (.FEL) - Imports complete model including all inputs

  4. FEFLOW Data-set File (.FEM) - Imports FEFLOW model data

  5. FEFLOW Results File (.DAC) - Imports FEFLOW results data

  6. Stereolithography File (.STL) - Imports finite-element mesh geometry

After selecting the model data file, click Open to continue.

Version Compatibility

MINEDW data-set files (.FEL) contain references to model files that must be in the same directory as the .FEL file during import.

  • Pre-MINEDW 3.0: The Define Simulation Start Date/Time dialog box appears (see Figure 4.2)

  • MINEDW 3.0+: Time-step information is imported automatically

For Pre-MINEDW 3.0 Files

When importing .FEL files from versions prior to MINEDW 3.0:

  1. The simulation start date refers to time step 0

  2. Enter the simulation start date and click OK to complete the import

  3. A progress window shows import completion percentage

Note

Limitation for Pre-MINEDW 3.0 Files

Time-varying conductivity information (such as Zone of Relaxation data) cannot be imported from .FEL files created by MINEDW versions prior to 3.0. This information must be regenerated using the Open Pit menu after import.
