3.1. Specified-Head Boundary ConditionsΒΆ
Specified-head boundaries simulate locations in the model with user-determined hydraulic heads. These apply to lakes, streams, seepage faces, underground mining, or other applications. Specified-head boundary conditions define boundaries with heads that remain constant or vary with time in fixed patterns. The boundary conditions take either form:
The boundary head remains invariant with time.
The boundary head varies with time according to a user-input hydrograph. Users can input a one-year hydrograph that repeats annually.
MINEDW applies two types of specified-head boundary conditions: constant head and drain. Constant-head nodes allow groundwater flow out of or into the model domain, while drain nodes only allow groundwater flow out of the model domain. Both specified-head node types are described below.
